Why Zargari

Most carpenters can build it. Few can tell you why it holds, the loads, the timber, the tolerances. That difference is the entire job.

The craft

Where engineering
meets the chisel.

Every joint is resolved as a structural problem before it's a beautiful one. This is a live study, spin it, pull it apart, watch the fingers interlock. The same obsession goes into the cabinetry that lands in your home.

Services

Six disciplines.
One set of hands.

From a single live-edge table to a full structural fit-out, scoped, engineered and built to a standard you can feel.

Custom Furniture

Bespoke tables, shelving and statement joinery, designed and built to spec.

One-off pieces engineered around how you live. Solid timber, honest joinery, finishes that age beautifully.

Kitchens & Cabinetry

Full kitchen fit-outs, built-in wardrobes and custom cabinetry.

Millimetre-accurate cabinetry that lands flush every time, because the carpenter understands the loads and the tolerances.

Structural & Framing

Decks, pergolas and structural timber framing.

Where engineering matters most. Spans, footings and connections sized properly, compliant and built to outlast the house.

Renovations & Fit-out

Residential and light-commercial renovation work.

We solve the problems other trades subcontract away. One accountable craftsperson, start to finish.

Timber Flooring

Hardwood and engineered flooring, supply and lay.

Flat, quiet, dead-level floors. Acclimatised, laid and finished by someone who knows why boards cup and how to stop it.

Restorations & Repairs

Heritage restoration, repairs and refinishing.

Bringing tired timber back to life, matching profiles, species and patina so the repair disappears.

The method

Engineered before it's built.

A repeatable, four-stage process that removes the guesswork, and the nasty surprises , from every job.

01

Consult & site read

We listen, measure, and read the structure, what's behind the wall matters as much as what's on it.

Site survey · constraints · brief

02

Engineer & design

Every piece is sized and detailed before a board is cut. Loads, spans and connections resolved on paper first.

Loads · tolerances · shop drawings

03

Craft

Cut, joined and assembled in-house with the patience of someone who's done it ten thousand times.

Joinery · dry-fit · finish

04

Install & sign off

Installed clean, levelled, and walked through with you. We leave the site better than we found it.

The materials

We don't pick timber.
We choose it.

Each species behaves differently under load, moisture and grain. Here are the four we reach for most, and what each one's actually best at.

Live configurator

Design your piece.
Watch it become real.

Pick the timber, the finish, the joinery, the dimensions, see it on screen in real time, with an indicative price band. When you're ready, hit Commission and the spec carries straight into the quote flow.

Not a marketplace, not a buy button. A way to talk about a piece without spending the first meeting on adjectives.

The mind

A PhD in why timber behaves, and twenty years making it behave.

Most carpenters learn by repetition: this joint, that fixing, this combination. Reza did that too, twenty years of it. Then he did a PhD in civil engineering and started asking why each of those rules existed.

It turns out the answer is always loads, materials science, or tolerance. Understand those three and you can read a problem the way a structural engineer reads it, then solve it the way a craftsman solves it.

That's the whole offer: an engineer's diagnosis with a chippy's hands. Sydney has a lot of either; not many of both.

$5,000. Anything smaller and we can't justify the engineering and design depth we bring to every job, you're better off with a general handyman for one-off small fixes.
